  • All people are unique, valuable and have something important to say

  • It is an honor to witness and be a part of other peoples' stories

  • Every person has some form of creativity within them

She has worked with hundreds of couples using the Gottman techniques. Joanna trained directly with John and Julie Gottman and Vagdevi Meunier. Joanna has also studied with Harville Hendrix and Michael White and often draws on a couple’s narrative in her work.

Art Therapy

Art therapy is not about making “good art” it is about opening up to the creative process, it is an opportunity that requires us to be brave and open and not judge ourselves. In art therapy we practice letting go of control.  Unlike language, images have the ability to hold many ideas at the same time. This allows for the complexity of your experiences to be expressed more easily.  For example, expressing feelings through an art therapy session can be fun yet might quickly show a multitude of layers of self discovery.

Sessions are 90 min

Gender Affirmative Care

Joanna provides GAC. She believes that no gender identity or expression is pathological (Keo-Meier & Ehrensaft, 2018), that they are all natural variations of humanity (Coolhart & Shipman, 2017), and that any pathology that is present is a result of transphobia, homophobia, and sexism, rather than a disturbance in the child (Coolhart, 2012; Hidalgo et al., 2013) or adult.

Healing in Therapy

“To care of another individual means to know and to experience the other as fully as possible.”
